Interested in becoming a NKO Yoga Instructor or do you simply want to deepen your own personal practice? We offer a 200-hour Teacher Training Program recognized by Yoga Alliance. This Hatha based training will focus on Vinyasa, Gentle and Yin Yoga. We will explore multiple styles of asana as well as meditation and pranayama. Students will be exposed to a variety of yogic perspectives through numerous special guest yoga teachers.Training will usually meet for two weekends per month . Please note there will be two make-up weekend available during the training. If required to make -up missed classes an additional charge will be applied.
Our main goal at NKO Yoga School is for you to gain knowledge of yoga, help others grow and learn from their practice and finally to grow in your own practice. So, I invite you to take a moment to consider why you practice and study yoga. Your reasons probably fall into these categories:

As your study and dedication to teaching deepens and you face challenges or distractions, avoid losing sight of the ultimate reasons why you practice and teach yoga.
It can be helpful to return again and again to the WHY.
Just as you practice and study yoga for profound reasons, so you practice and study yoga teaching to effectively support students in having equally profound results.
Yoga teachers develop their skills and evolve over time through:
1. Personal Practice 2. Practice Teaching and “Real” Teaching 3. Mentoring / Coaching 4. Transmission 5. Knowledge |
This program is based on multiple styles of asanas as well as meditation and pranayama. Students will be exposed to a variety of yoga perspectives through numerous special guest yoga teachers.
These teachings will be expressed through 180 hours in the class setting, as well as 20 hours + home study, practice teaching and karma yoga. The program will consist of several educational modules in techniques, methodology, and practice anatomy. Topics include but not limited to self-inquiry, history, subtle body.
Each module is designed to raise the students’ consciouses to find a balance between the past and the future of yoga. Topic includes:
| • Yoga history and philosophy • Pranayama and Meditation • Physical anatomy | • Ethics and lifestyle • Subtle anatomy and Physiology • Class sequencing and themes |
Modules vary in hours, applications, nature, and scope. The total training hours is designed to take each student from merely practicing “Asana” to practicing and instructing others.
Homework assignments will be given at the end of each weekend that will include a variation of the following:
| • Reading • Writing and reflecting in your journal • Essays • Study guides | • Memorizations and practice teaching • Karma service • Tracking your own practice • Class observing and assisting |
Asana worksheets are to be completed for each posture/ asana that we cover in class… there is a sample in your binder, and you are encouraged to work with each other to complete.

Class will meet primarily on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am- 5 pm (unless otherwise specified), with several long weekends.

Upon receiving an acceptance email, the applicant will be charged a non- refundable deposit of $250 is due with the application to hold your place, will go towards the cost of training.
The cost of the program is $3200 if financing arrangements can be made,10% off if paid in full. Full payment must be complete if arrangement made to receive your certificate.
An additional cost for required yoga retreat $250

All students that are registered in the current program will have access to 10 yoga classes at NKO Yoga Studio and are encouraged to attend.

Do you have students, clients, or patients who can’t get down on the floor due to age, weight, disability, or inflexibility? Would you like to teach at hospitals, senior centers, or nursing homes? By adapting traditional yoga poses to a chair, you can bring the accessible benefits of yoga to those unable to take part in even a gentle class.
This course includes learning to practice for anyone interested in teaching chair yoga, including healthcare professionals, yoga teachers, and yoga teachers in training.
In this training, you will learn:
Teach an hour-long accessible chair yoga class
Choose appropriate postures and breathing techniques according to individual needs
Discern levels of flexibility and identify precautions and contraindications
Understand anatomy and alignment for chair asanas
Incorporate meditation, guided yogic relaxation, pranayama techniques (breathing exercises), healing affirmations to improve health the and well-being
Office Yoga: teaching at companies
Increasingly, people are turning to yoga to help them feel comfortable in their own bodies. As a yoga instructor, you want to be able to offer clientele safe and fun modifications compared to traditional poses. This course will give you three full-length chair yoga practices, as well as a breakdown of 30 yoga poses. It's a great course for anyone looking to teach yoga to seniors or people with reduced mobility, even to large companies.
